A mere 30 minute drive away from the lodge, San Martín de los Andes is an alpine village located in a beautiful valley at the edge of Lacar Lake.
The town is surrounded by a lush forest of native trees which brings life and colour to every season. It is one of the top destinations in Patagonia for both Argentinians and foreign visitors.
San Martín de los Andes is a unique resort town built more than 100 years ago by European settlers, who have left their mark on the local architecture: in parts, it feels like a picture perfect European ski village! The town is well worth a visit: there are plenty of artisanal shops with local arts and crafts and excellent cafes, not to mention the Gaucho store, a firm favourite with guests and locals alike.
Last but not least, there is a magnificent art gallery which exhibits the art and photography of the world renowned Miciu Nicolaevici family as well as the silver work of some of the finest silversmiths in Argentina. An experience not to be missed!
